Foster care is a ministry of Kornerstone that provides placement in licensed foster homes for children or adolescents who need protection from abuse and neglect. Foster parents provide children a safe place to live and the care, support, and individual attention they need to heal and develop into mentally and physically healthy youth. Foster homes serve children and youth spanning a wide range of ages, from infants to pre-school to elementary-age to teenagers, who are facing an array of problems, depending upon their preferences and capabilities. Generally foster care is a short-term, temporary placement for a child. The primary goal of foster care is to help children mend and be reunited with their birth families when possible. Families who can provide homes for older children, sibling groups, pregnant or parenting teens, and children who have emotional difficulties stemming from abuse are especially needed. Foster parents receive a daily per diem rate to help offset the costs of providing care for a child Becoming a Foster/Adoptive Parent |
